Following the resolution of the Council of Europe in 2003, a major follow up has been achieved strengthening the role of malnutrition in the political agenda. The European Parliament has recently adopted the report of the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, urging the European Commission and member states to consider malnutrition alongside with obesity as a critical issue to be addressed during the next years via a number of activities, including educational programs, scientific endeavours, etc. This major goal is the outcome of the Fight Against Malnutrition campaign launched by ESPEN and its partner European Nutrition for Health Alliance.
